An Olde World Charm

I was strolling in a department store when suddenly an urge of thirst came to me.  As a coffee aficionado, I ran to the nearest café and ordered a house blend.  Came to my surprise, the house blend tasted ‘weird’.  Unlike the coffee I usually take. I paid for the coffee I did not ‘drink to the last drop’ and I went home looking for water to wash down that terrible taste.

One day, my coffee group mates invited me to go to a new café downtown.  Traumatized by the taste of the ‘tasteless coffee’, I refused to go.

One day, out of curiosity, I went downtown to that new café.  From the name, I thought that this café, “VinT4G3 Coffeehouse”, is the kind of café that will serve weird things.  When I entered the café, a hospitable atmosphere greeted me.  The room is full with coffee memorabilias, the workers are using funky aprons, and the seats are comfy.  The whole room gives me the feeling of being at home.

I sat down on a ‘leisure seating corner.”  It was a corner that has a soft carpet and giant pillows.  It also has a Japanese style table on the side.  A waiter greeted me.  He gave me a menu and asked what I would like to have.  Being new, I asked him what is the café’s specialty.  He answered “The Perfect Wake UP Call”, he then explain what is it.  The Perfect Wake UP call” is a blend of Guatemalan coffee beans with Sumatran and Celebes coffee beans with a hint of peppermint leaves.  He said that it is very strong.  Perfect for morning duties.

I then asked for something mellow.  He recommended  Soothies” a blend of relaxing Arabica with mousse and chocolate sprinkles on top.  He asked whether or not I would like to have some snacks with it.  He gave out suggestions, such as: Corn Cake, Bika Cassava, Talam Mutiara, Fried Apples, and Apples on Ice.  I ordered a slice of bika cassava.

He came back quickly with my orders.  As I was enjoying my coffee, a live jazzy music was playing, creating a lively atmosphere.  Some customers went down the dancing floor and danced.  People were clapping to the tune.  Seeing them enjoying themselves, I went down and danced.

When I was about to leave, the waiter, who served me, gave me a coupon of 15% on all items in the café.  20% on selected items.  He said that the coupon is transferable.

He also offered me a lifetime membership card, which entitles me to a 10% discount for every purchase, for only Rp20.000.  He said that I could use the coupon with the card.  Well, why not?  I signed up and I get a temp card, which I can instantly use.  I also received the coupon.

If you are looking for a place to rest and relax, I would definitely recommend this place.  A nice atmosphere, a friendly service, and a good meal, will surely get everyone’s attention.
